Safety instructions

  • Please read and understand the whole user manual before installation and usage of the Battery Hub S.
  • Use the device only in combination with the Battery S.
  • Do NOT mix up the + (plus) and – (minus) poles of the battery.
  • Do NOT open the battery pack. Danger of short-circuiting. Opening the BOS battery S device voids any and all warranty claims.
  • Install this device step by step as written in this manual for best results.
  • Follow all safety precautions during installation of device & handling batteries.
  • The internal voltage of the device may be higher than the nominal level. Make sure to avoid electric shock during installation.
  • Store this document in a secure location for the entire lifetime of the device. Ensure that it is handed over to any future owners or operators.
  • Incorrect operation can damage system components.
  • If the housing of the Hub S is damaged, the device must not be operated under any circumstances.
  • Only use undamaged Battery S units with the Hub S.
  • Factory labels and markings must not be altered, removed, or rendered unreadable.
  • This device contains sensitive electronics, so take care during installation and use.
  • Check the recycling information at the end of the user manual for disposal of device

Application Scope

  • The primary application of the Battery S Hub S is the stationary charging of up to four Battery S units.
  • This device is designed exclusively for use with Battery S.
  • Failure to observe the safety precautions may result in damage to the device and the connected Battery S units.
  • Improper use of the product or failure to follow the operating instructions will void the warranty and guarantee.

Installation

Please read and understand our general information before starting the installation.

Structure

Housing

The Hub S is housed in a module rack that has been specifically designed for this application. The rack provides a stable and protected environment for the components.

Batterie mounting

The Frame S is mounted inside the rack to provide secure housing for up to four Battery S units. The batteries are held in place using a form-fit design and are mechanically fixed to ensure stability during operation and transport.

Charging unit

A Mean Well charger is installed in the rear section of the Hub S to handle battery charging. The charger is mounted on a separate mounting plate to ensure secure installation and facilitate easy maintenance.

AC connection

The Hub S is equipped with a PowerCON connector on the rear side of the enclosure for the mains connection. This connector is used solely to supply power to the integrated charger and must be connected to an appropriate AC power source.

Electrical Installation

Connect the interface cables at the rear of the device, then insert the power plug into a properly protected 230 V mains outlet.

Commissioning

Once the electrical connection has been completed according to Chapter 8 “Electrical Installation”, it is possible to charge up to four Battery S units in parallel. Proceed as follows:

  • Insert the batteries into the guide rail as shown.
  • Ensure that the handle can be folded out to the left while doing so.
  • Make sure the battery is positioned correctly (handle must be able to fold out from right to left).
  • Use the handle to slide the battery into the holder until it reaches the stop. Secure it by tilting the handle to the right and locking it into place.
  • When the Battery S is correctly inserted, the Battery S LEDs will illuminate.

Troubleshooting and FAQ

Why is there no voltage at the battery’s power output?

Make sure the battery is not in OFF mode and that no error message appears when pressing a button.

Warranty and Legal Information

Warranty 

The Battery S Hub S is covered by a two-year warranty from the date of purchase. No warranty is provided for third-party system components used in conjunction with the Battery S Hub S.
If you encounter any issues, have questions, or wish to make a warranty claim or request spare parts, please contact your local dealer or BOS AG for assistance.

Recycling Informations

The recycling of the integrated lithium battery in Germany is carried out by GRS Service GmbH.

Do not dispose the device in household waste. Instead, recycle electronic equipment, batteries, and packaging materials in accordance with local regulations. Before disposing of the device, cover the S-pole contact surfaces of the BOS battery with adhesive tape. For further information, please contact your BOS dealer or BOS Balance of Storage Systems AG.

For EU countries only:
In accordance with European Directive 2012/19/EU, waste electrical and electronic equipment must be collected separately and disposed of in an environmentally sound manner. Likewise, defective or used batteries must be collected separately in accordance with European Directive 2006/66/EC.
